Privacy policy
Effective date: September 5, 2026
Swords Express Go (“the app”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is an independent app that shows real-time and scheduled bus times for the Swords ↔ Dublin commuter service. This policy explains what information the app uses and how.
The app is built to need as little of your data as possible. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing you enter to use it.
Information the app uses
1. Location
If you allow it, the app uses your device’s location while you have the app open to work out your nearest stop and your walking time to it, and to centre the map. Your location is used on your device for these features. It is not sent to us, stored on our servers, or shared with anyone, and the app never requests background or always-on location. You can decline location access, or change it later in the iOS Settings app — the app still works, you just pick your stop yourself.
2. Timetable and live bus data
Scheduled times are bundled with the app and stored on your device. To show live departures and vehicle positions, the app requests real-time information from the relevant transport data source. These requests do not include your identity or your location.
3. Analytics and diagnostics
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics provider, hosted in the European Union, to understand how the app is used and to find and fix problems. This may include:
- App version, device model, and operating-system version
- Anonymous usage events (for example, which screens are viewed and which features are used, such as changing direction or opening a stop)
- Diagnostic and crash information when something goes wrong
Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name, email, Apple ID, or advertising identifier. This information is analysed only in aggregate to understand general trends and app health. It is not used to identify or profile you, and it is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal data.
PostHog processes this data on our behalf in line with its own privacy policy.
How we use information
- Provide and maintain the app’s features
- Show live departures and the route map
- Improve performance and reliability
- Understand general usage trends in aggregate
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or targeted marketing.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share limited data only with:
- PostHog (analytics and diagnostics processing, EU-hosted)
- Apple, if you choose to contact us or rate the app through the App Store
- The transport data source the app queries for live times
Data retention
Analytics and diagnostic data is retained only as long as needed to analyse trends and keep the app working, and is then deleted or aggregated.
Your choices
You can turn off location access at any time in the iOS Settings app. Deleting the app removes the on-device identifier and the bundled data from your device. For any privacy request, including a request to delete analytics data associated with your device, contact us at davidmcmahondublin@gmail.com.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Users in the EEA and UK
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR and equivalent UK law, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date.
